Article | Published 15th of September 2026

Milk of Tomorrow, created by The Game Assembly students in Ashleep Studios, won the Outside the Box award at Swedish Game Awards: New Talent 2026 on 11 September. The winners were announced at a ceremony at Bio Skandia in Stockholm.

Buying milk sounds simple. In Milk of Tomorrow, it becomes the start of a deadly time loop. Guided by a sarcastic narrator whose commentary changes with every death, players explore a city inspired by 1980s Stockholm. Each attempt reveals new clues and brings them closer to solving the mystery.

The game combines handcrafted pixel-art textures with 3D environments. It was also nominated for Best Technology, making the Outside the Box win an exciting end to the team’s Swedish Game Awards journey.

Five games created by TGA students were nominated for this year’s awards. We’re proud of every team and of the creativity and hard work they put into their games.

Huge congratulations to Ashleep Studios on the win!

Milk of Tomorrow is a mystery adventure built around a deadly time loop and a narrator whose commentary changes with every attempt.

What is the Swedish Game Awards?

The Swedish Game Awards (SGA) is Sweden’s leading celebration of game development and has been held annually since 2002. The New Talent competition highlights games created by students and emerging developers across Sweden. In 2026, more than 80 games from seven game development programmes were submitted, with 19 games selected as nominees.

Outside the Box recognises a game that stands out through an unconventional or particularly imaginative approach. This can include an original concept, unexpected gameplay, distinctive storytelling or a creative combination of technology and visual design. The award celebrates projects that challenge conventions and explore what a game can be.
