What does a Game Artist do?

As a game artist, you are responsible for the visual aspects of the game. This can involve 3D models, textures, and environments. Therefore, it is essential for you as an artist to have an artistic ability. Your responsibility as a 3D artist is to develop the game's 3D models and compositions, ensuring the necessary amount of art is produced.

Course Overview

The Game Art course emphasizes 3D art and design, where you will develop essential skills such as colour theory, composition, and the use of industry-standard software to design and produce models, materials, environments, and characters for games.

Crafted in collaboration with the games industry, this course ensures that the skills you acquire meet professional standards, focusing on both mastering your craft and collaborating effectively for optimal results.

A unique studio-simulated learning experience

What sets our course apart is its unique pedagogy, designed to closely simulate a real game studio environment. You’ll work in an agile setting, preparing you for the rapid pace and changes of the industry. Mornings are dedicated to hands-on instruction in Game Art, while afternoons are spent collaborating with Game Programming and Level Design students in a studio-like atmosphere. Daily stand-ups with your team provide the structure to create games in a realistic, professional environment.

In game development, teamwork and adaptability are essential, as the process integrates various disciplines—such as art, programming, and design—enabling experts to work seamlessly together. As a Game Artist at TGA, you’ll gain a deep understanding of the importance of working across disciplines and learn to navigate the opportunities and challenges of collaboration.
